The JūJ philosophy
A healthy head of hair is always nourished and full of moisture! Dry hair can lead to multiple complications such as split ends, dandruff, breakage, shedding, and much more. To prevent these complications, the most important thing you can do is deep condition your hair every 1-2 weeks. If you have the time, give yourself an hour or two to apply a designated deep conditioner and wrap your hair in a plastic grocery bag (for DIY ladies) or a shower cap to hold in the moisture. If you’re not quite ready to invest in a deep conditioner, just leave in your normal conditioner for 30 minutes to an hour, or even overnight if you have time the next morning to rinse and style it. This will allow your hair to soak in all the benefits of the product and strengthen your strands for the difficult weather that will impact it this season.
Doing this 2-4 times a month will greatly improve your hair texture, softness, shine, and thickness. Not only that but deep conditioning also promotes hair growth (if that’s something you’re interested in).
GIVE YOUR HAIR A BREAK
Most of us enjoy curling, straightening, blow-drying, and well…unintentionally overheating our hair! But these next few months are already going to be hard on your locks, so give them a break from the heat every once in a while. Let your locks hang loose, let your curls coil up, let your waves shake! Hair is delicate and can only take but so much heat before damaged strands occur. Try a braided style, let your hair air dry, or wrap it up in a bun. However you choose to style your hair is up to you, but strongly consider a heatless style every once in awhile. Your hair will thank you!

PROTEIN IS QUEEN!
Hair proteins are essential to the overall wellbeing and functionality of your hair. When your hair is low on protein, your strands become heavily damaged, weak, frizzy/flat, and unmanageable. Your hair loses texture, volume, shine, and its ability to grow. These are all things that we desperately wish to conserve! Now I know it may seem silly, and I’m sure you’ve seen influencers or beauty gurus put food in their hair, but they’re not just doing it for attention. Applying a whisked egg, mashed avocado, or even a warmed bowl of olive oil to your hair can bring back proteins to your scalp and reverse some damage. Of course, having a protein treatment done in a salon by a professional will have the biggest impact, but there are small things you can do right in your kitchen to get your hair to a healthier state.
